Who We Are
Muadi B. Dibinga
Muadi B. Dibinga is a motivational speaker, professional coach and organizational development consultant whose commitment to public service spans two decades. Prior to launching her company, Ms. Dibinga served as the first associate director of Citizens for Safety, a Boston-based city-wide coalition working to address the root causes of violence. She coordinated steering committee and task force meetings; developed agency public relations material; organized press conferences, and delivered testimony at public hearings. She also co-wrote A Call To Action, a city-wide survey and assessment of the availability of youth services in metropolitan Boston; delivered testimony to the state legislature on behalf of the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services; conducted cultural awareness and youth training workshops for the Boston Police Department, Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership, Inc., Boston University Summer Upward Bound Program, the Higher Education Information Center, and other groups.
She began her formal fundraising career in 1992 when she was hired as the first associate director for the Southern Center for Human Rights. At that time, the Center was at a critical juncture in its then 16-year history. The group had been informed that, after over a decade of support, its largest funder had changed its grant-making guidelines and was phasing out its support. The withdrawal of those funds posed a significant threat to the survival of the organization. Ms. Dibinga was hired to implement a plan to keep the Center from closing its doors. Together with the Center’s stellar executive director, board and staff, Ms. Dibinga was able to create and implement a fundraising and development plan that allowed the organization to continue and expand its programs. During her tenure, she produced the organization’s first annual benefit dinner which net over $75,000, created the organization’s first newsletter, created the organization’s first personnel and policies procedures manual, and doubled its individual contributions.
After leaving the Center in 1997 Ms. Dibinga worked with several nonprofit organizations including the Africa Fund and Association of the Bar of the City of New York. She was also an Adjunct Professor at New York University’s Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising where she taught Fundraising Concepts and Practice, Grant Writing, and Fundraising for Writing. Her energetic teaching style, vast knowledge of the field, and her ability to connect with her students resulted in her becoming one of the top instructors in the department.
In 2001, Muadi founded Bijimba Consulting a development consultant firm that provides technical assistance and direct services to nonprofit organizations in the areas of Strategic Planning, Fundraising and Development, Special Events Planning, and Organizational Development. In 2009, she changed the company name to Muadi B. Dibinga Unlimited and re-directed its focus to more closely align with her core values and beliefs. Ms. Dibinga’s work is fueled by a deep appreciation for the indomitable nature of the human spirit and the need for human kind to bring a higher level of consciousness to our personal and professional endeavors.
